The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has supported the Walk for Women’s Cancer in Perth, with participants lacing up their shoes to conquer 35 kilometres to raise funds for medical research.
The annual event is hosted by the Harry Perks Institute of Medical Research, with more than 1,200 participating this year.
Local Team Leader Alby Trewan said RRT volunteers were on site at the walking route to serve 650 meals to those taking part.
“RRT has been supporting the Walk for Women’s Cancer in Perth for five years and it is such a fantastic day out for both our volunteers as well as the participants,” said Alby.
“Our volunteers were honoured to be able to support the cause, to cheer on the walkers and to make sure they had the fuel and refreshments to keep putting one foot in front of the other.”
“Well done to all involved in the Walk for Women’s Cancer, which raised more than $1.5 million – and RRT hopes to be back to support for a sixth year in 2027.”
As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community.
Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
