Rapid Relief Team Served 300 Meals to the TSA Agents at the San Antonio International Airport, January 23

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) started a national campaign to provide free meals to furloughed Federal Transport Security Administration (TSA) Agents, right across the United States. The RRT began providing thousands of hot meals to TSA employees at dozens of major airports, many of whom are serving their fellow citizens, by working without pay as a result of the recent partial government shutdown.

On Wednesday, January 23, the Rapid Relief Team served 300 meals to TSA officers at the San Antonio International Airport (SAT). Each meal consisted of a sandwich along with chips, cookies and a beverage. 

Serving a meal with a bit of creativity

The shutdown is affecting the lives of so many Americans, however, we are very grateful for the continued hard work of the TSA men and women in their dedication to protecting their country. By day 32 of government shutdown, officers had missed one pay check and could possibly miss a second. Head TSA stated “that the San Antonio team hasn’t lost many employees due to the shutdown, but if it continues, he doesn’t know what may happen…”

These TSA workers may face challenging financial times ahead – however RRT genuinely hopes the meals we serve will help ease the burden in the smallest way. The Rapid Relief Team volunteers were humbled to witness the worker’s cheery dispositions through these tough times and sincerely appreciate their dedication and loyalty to their country.

The Rapid Relief Team was grateful for the opportunity to show our support to those who are working without pay. RRT will continue to work closely with the TSA, and where possible, will further our efforts to feed workers at airports across the United States.
