Council Bluffs RRT Assisted Catholic Charities Hunger Run

On June 11, 2016 RRT volunteers from Council Bluffs Area Helped at The Catholic Charities Hunger Run. Temperatures were seen upwards of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and water was consumed very, very quickly. Catholic Charities put on a very organized run that was brief and to the point, thankfully, due to the heat. This charity awards the top three male and top three female winners of the 5K and the 10K race with a medal. Every child that participates in the kid’s dash received a shirt and a finishers ribbon.
The Winner of the 10K Run Claiming His MedalCatholic Charities has done this run for 5 years now, and this year, the event was held at a beautiful new location, Zorinksy Lake in Western Omaha. This organization has been doing an excellent job of raising vital funds for hungry children and families. The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide service to people in need, to advocate for justice in social structures and to call the entire church and other people of good will to do the same.
RRT Manning a Water StationRRT’s responsibilities at this event included setting up water stations, keeping the runners hydrated, taking photos, and shuttling supplies on ATV’s.
5K Runners Giving It Their AllThe hot temperatures made water stations an absolute must. It is crucial for long-distance runners to stay hydrated when running in summer weather. Congratulations to all participants for their efforts and support.
The Final StretchIt was a privilege working with Catholic Charities and RRT is looking forward to assisting at further events in the future. Thank you to all who participated and made this day a success.
