Aiming to bridge the gap for vulnerable people, RRT New Zealand collaborated with Safer Mid Canterbury to support those in need with nutritious snacks, hygiene kits and first aid boxes.

Safer Mid Canterbury is a non-profit community organisation in Ashburton that has been operating as a charitable trust for more than 20 years. They provide free and confidential community services to support vulnerable families, children, new migrants and youth justice and adult offenders.

The end of 2020 saw RRT volunteers from Ashburton donate a large range of products to Safer Mid Canterbury to help them provide care and assistance to people in need. The donated products included nutritional snack bars, bars of soap, first-aid kits, RRT Food Boxes and RRT’s mascot – Cookie the Kookaburra.

RRT Local Team Leader for Ashburton, Bruce Mascull said, “It’s our way of expressing our compassion to the community here.”

Family Harm Coordinator, Anna Arrowsmith showed great appreciation to the team in Ashburton and said that RRT’s collaboration would be changing lives for many in need. “A huge thank you to RRT and the work that they do and for supporting our messages and our community and our events.’
