RRT Joins Exercise Poseidon at Trentham Military Camp, Showcasing Emergency Response Capabilities
RRT recently had the privilege of participating in “Exercise Poseidon,” a large-scale emergency response training exercise held at Trentham Military Camp in Upper Hutt. This multi-agency event brought together numerous organizations dedicated to preparing for major natural events, ensuring that our communities are ready to respond swiftly and effectively when disaster strikes.
During the exercise, RRT proudly displayed our range of emergency response equipment, including our Sand Bagger, Quad Trailer, and Telehandler. These vital resources are ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice to assist in disaster relief efforts, helping communities recover quickly and efficiently. It was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our capabilities to the other participating agencies and volunteers, highlighting the vital role that RRT plays in times of crisis.
RRT was in excellent company, as several other organizations also took part in the exercise. These included the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), St John Ambulance, Wellington Region Emergency Management Office (WREMO), and New Zealand Police. Each of these groups brought their unique skills, knowledge, and resources to the table, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and teamwork in managing emergency situations.
To show our appreciation for the dedication and hard work of all the volunteers involved in Exercise Poseidon, RRT served a delicious BBQ lunch. The aroma of sizzling sausages and burgers filled the air as volunteers took a well-deserved break to enjoy the meal and connect with their fellow participants.
Exercise Poseidon was not just a chance to showcase our equipment but also an important reminder of the collaborative spirit needed to tackle natural disasters. We were honored to stand alongside so many other committed organizations, all united by a shared goal: to protect and support our communities when they need it the most.
RRT remains dedicated to providing rapid and effective assistance during emergencies, and we are constantly refining our skills and resources to ensure we can make a difference when it counts. Thank you to all the volunteers and agencies who took part in Exercise Poseidon—we look forward to future opportunities to work together in making our communities safer and more resilient.
