The Central South Island Charity Bike Ride took place over three days, from February 20th to 22nd, 2025. This annual event challenges cyclists to complete a multi-day ride through the stunning landscapes of South Canterbury, covering approximately 365 kilometers. The route typically includes cycling from Timaru to Tekapo on the first day, then Tekapo to Kurow on the second day, and back to Timaru. Now in its 21st year, the ride has raised over $2.5 million for worthy causes, including Hospice South Canterbury, Family Works, YMCA South Canterbury, Life Education Trust Mid & South Canterbury, Multiple Sclerosis South Canterbury, and Mōkihi Hauora.

RRT was privileged to support the event by providing meals and refreshments to the dedicated riders and crew along the way.

On Day One (February 20th), the Timaru RRT team stepped in to fuel the riders for their journey. Nine RRT volunteers contributed a combined 45 hours on-site, serving 80 delicious roast lamb sandwiches with desserts. In addition, they distributed 240 water bottles to keep participants hydrated and provided 75 RRT sunscreens to help protect riders from the sun as they tackled the challenging course.

On Day Two (February 21st), the Oamaru RRT team continued the support. Nine volunteers dedicated 27 hours on-site, serving 120 of RRT’s signature beef burgers to hungry riders. To ensure hydration remained a priority, they also distributed 130 water bottles to participants.

Throughout the three-day event, riders demonstrated incredible endurance and determination, cycling long distances each day to support the charities that play such vital roles in their communities.

RRT is honored to have contributed to this fantastic event, helping to sustain and encourage those taking on the challenge. We look forward to supporting the Central South Island Charity Bike Ride in the future as it continues to make a positive impact on the lives of many.
