RRT Brings BBQ Joy to Kids at Camp Quality in Marton

The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) recently brought its trademark care and compassion to Camp Quality in Marton, Manawatū, firing up the BBQ to support children living with cancer and their families during the charity’s annual summer camp.
Camp Quality is dedicated to bringing fun, hope, and happiness into the lives of children living with cancer—empowering them to be kids again. Established over 40 years ago, Camp Quality is the only organisation in New Zealand providing camps specifically designed for children aged 5 to 16 who are undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. Their camps offer a caring environment where fun and friendship are combined with achievable challenges, fostering a sense of normality and independence.

Held in January 2025, the Marton camp welcomed more than 50 children, along with their families and carers, for a fun-filled week packed with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable memories. From jet boat races and four-wheel driving to swimming and team games, the campers enjoyed every minute of simply being kids.
To help fuel the fun, RRT provided a hearty lunch with 150 sausage sandwiches and 200 of our Signature Burgers, served up hot and fresh by a team of 11 dedicated volunteers.
Local Team Leader Levi Currie, who has led RRT’s involvement in Marton for the past three years, shared just how meaningful this event is to the team:
“Camp Quality does such an amazing job at brightening the lives of these special kids, and RRT is happy to support their mission. Battling cancer is hard for kids and their families – so to be able to see them outside, having adventures with big smiles is so special. Thanks, Camp Quality, for letting us support this great event.”
