Rapid Sandbagging

RRT delivers efficient sandbagging support across New Zealand, responding to emergencies and proactively preparing communities for potential flooding.

RRT’s Rapid Sand Bagger enables a team of 8–10 volunteers to fill approximately 650–700 sandbags per hour. Each bag is filled to an average weight of 14–15 kg and securely stitched closed. With one based in each the North and South Islands, the Rapid Sand Baggers can be deployed right across New Zealand.

We provide this sandbagging service to local authorities, including Civil Defence and Councils, and welcome enquiries for both reactive sandbagging during emergencies and proactive sandbagging to build a stockpile for future events.

"The impact that they're having on the community by doing these bags, and assisting them for the future of this next weather event, is incredible. And what's more important... for Civil Defence, FENZ, this is going to minimise the amount of work they're going to have to do afterwards."
