The Rexall One Walk to Conquer Cancer is a large annual event in Downtown Toronto.  It is a fundraiser for the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, one of the top 5 cancer research centers in the world, so this is a major event for Toronto.

The RRT Refreshment Station.

In the morning, the Rapid Relief Team volunteers set up tents, tables and a few chairs in the park where the refreshment station was located.  At the RRT refreshment stop there were large jugs of water, Powerade, and many different types of packaged snacks. After all, the 29-km walk was no short walk and they needed to boost their energy for the last 11-km stretch!  About 145 walkers were hydrated and took advantage of the free food and drink that was available at the RRT tent which was a great turnout for the lengthy 40-km route.

When the walkers started to trickle in to the refreshment station they were overjoyed at the drinks and snacks.  The Rapid Relief Team members did their best to encourage everyone on their mission, cheered for all the walkers and wished them the best of luck as they arrived at the station and headed out again.

Walkers Staying Hydrated and Refreshed.

The Hamilton Rapid Relief Team was happy to help out at this event once again by running one of the refreshment stations for the walkers.  Participants could choose which walk they participated in, the 15-km, 25-km or 40-km routes, and the Hamilton RRT’s refreshment stand was at the 29-km point of the 40-km route.
