Calgary RRT Served a Dinner at the Mustard Seed on November 23

The Mustard Seed has been operating in Calgary for over 30 years. The Christian operation offers education and employment programs, health and wellness services, and other basic needs including housing and spiritual care for almost 400 homeless and less fortunate citizens of Calgary.

On November 23, 2017, the Calgary Rapid Relief Team had the privilege of serving a meal to the homeless and vulnerable guests of The Mustard Seed before they transitioned from the day shelter to the shelter where they would sleep for the night.

The RRT Trailer arrived on site at 3:30 PM, and soon the smell of cooking burgers attracted a large crowd, lining up anxiously awaiting their meal. For some of the people, this was their first meal of the day since early morning.

In the space of one hour, RRT served hamburgers to over 200 individuals, marking the first food-service event by the Calgary team.
The RRT Cooking TrailerIn an email from The Mustard Seed’s Richard Deschenes, Chief Development Officer, appreciation was expressed to RRT: “The food event was very well received by our guests and staff, and made a positive and special impact. On behalf of The Mustard Seed and the guests served, thank you for partnering with us to provide relief to Calgary’s most vulnerable.”
