The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) acknowledge and support the incredible work undertaken by health care heroes across the country, especially during what’s been a tough year. 25 RRT volunteers in Adelaide and Mount Barker served up over 800 burgers for lunch and dessert to the frontline staff at Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Matt Gooden, RRT Local Team Leader (LTL) for Adelaide, said today was about recognising the efforts of the front-line health staff who during these uncertain times have put their lives at risk to help others.

“Healthcare workers are the real heroes of this pandemic, turning up day in and day out to help others, now it’s time for us to help and thank them for their continuous efforts. This is the second year RRT has worked with Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital and we know how hard all the staff have been working to keep everyone safe. We are very proud to be able to help these heroes out in this small but meaningful way,” he said.

The Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Jane Scotcher, said the efforts of the RRT team were greatly appreciated by the Hospital staff.

“Our staff were thrilled by the efforts of the RRT team, the volunteers brought smiles (and a satisfied stomach) to the staff of Adelaide’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Working in the health care industry in the best of times can be tiring, let alone during a global pandemic – today gave staff an opportunity to take a well-deserved break and realise just how much the community appreciates their efforts.”

RRT is thrilled to be serve the staff and hope to continue supporting those who work tirelessly to support the community.
