None of us know when an accident or emergency might strike
and without fail, Wellington Free Ambulance will be to the rescue!

Cooking up a storm.

Wellington Ambulance are the one and only emergency ambulance service in
Greater Wellington and Wairarapa, and the only ones in the country who
are free, hence the ‘onesie’ theme was created!

Every year, Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics help around 50,000
people from around the region. They attend 140 emergencies a day.

The charity is only part funded by government, and that means having to
find $4 million every year through community fundraising

‘Onesie Day’ is an annual event, raising awareness and
collecting donations to help make up the $4 million shortfall. Donations go
towards new ambulances, life-saving equipment, advanced clinical training
and research, and more.

Hitting the ground running!

It’s hard to imagine where we’d be without them, which is
why RRT were so enthused to support. 15 RRT volunteers were up and cooking,
bright and early at the Porirua Train Station on Friday morning, and soon
handing out FREE scrambled egg and ham burgers. The smell of a delicious BBQ breakie
wafting through the station aroused the interest of many passer-bys!

No better way to start the day, Breakfast burger and drop a small donation to Wellington Free Ambulance.

Other volunteers in Onesie’s were in the subway collecting
donations alongside RRT volunteers who gave away over 600 burgers. Some took
extra burgers to feed the hungry ones in town and for some it was their
breakfast!

Catching the early birds at Porirua Station.

The train station is just one of many locations across the region where ‘Onesies’ are collecting donations. Collectors were also on the streets all around Porirua, Hutt Valley, Kapiti and the Wairarapa. “Every dollar makes a huge difference,” head of fundraising and communications Laura Golland said. “Our community are the ones keeping us here, and keeping us free for anyone needing our help.”

Thank you Wellington Free Ambulance, we couldn’t do without you!

We appreciate all Wellington Free Ambulance do and feel
privileged to be able to support them.
